Cleaning Instructions

In certain climatic and environmental conditions it will become necessary to clean your Roser Stone Coated Steel roof to maintain the beauty of your high performance.  It is important that the contractor used for this project is familiar with stone coated steel roofs and knows how to walk on your roof without damaging it.  Soft soled shoes should be worn and foot traffic should be limited to the overlapped nose of the panels with care taken not to step on side lap areas.

Most commercial roof cleaning products are acceptable options to cleaning your roof.  You should also consider any possible negative effects to your lawn and ground cover from the roof run off.  Copper or lead based products should not be used on Roser panels since a dissimilar metals action could cause the Roser panels to corrode.  There are many products currently on the market that should work on your roof.  Examples include “Wet and Forget Outdoor” cleaner, “Bayer Advanced 2-in1 Moss and Algae Killer” and “Simple Green” concentrate.   Always follow manufacturers' instructions and be mindful of water collection systems if applicable.  If a pressure wash is used, it is recommended to stay below 500 psi and avoid placing the tip directly on the panels or spraying under the side laps.  And if a heated spray is used, it is recommended that the temperature not exceed 165 degrees.

Much like any cleaner, it is recommended that your contractor test a small area for results prior to cleaning the whole roof.  Some cleaning solutions take longer than others to destroy the built up algae, lichen, mildew and contaminants built up on the panels.
